The havoc of the great flood of 2018 was so huge that many poor people lost their homes, property and livelihood. An organization like Dayapuram Educational and Cultural Centre run by Volunteers and Academicians cannot sit idle watching this calamities. Dayapurathukar launched a yearlong project
‘Dayapuram project for Kerala Flood Rehabilitation & Social Reconstruction’ on 15th August 2018 to give solace to our fellow beings. In commemoration to the 35 th Anniversary of Dayapuram campus-“35 years of living for Keralam”, the Trust has decided to build 35 houses for those who became homeless by theflood. On completion of a year after the launch of the project, 15 houses were handed over to the beneficiaries by M.T. Vasudevan Nair in a humble function at Kozhikode. The members of Dayapuram Residential School Youth Parliament and Dayapuram Students Forum has selected the birthday of the Dalit leader Ayyankali to visit the construction site of the remaining 20 houses and review the progress of the work. Students in two separate groups set out at 8.30 in the morning and covered all the area in the neighboring Panchayaths. They also visited some of the beneficiaries who had already occupied their new houses and shared pleasantries.
